ОАО «Russian Railways» will purchase from ZAO “ Transmashholding” EMUs and rail buses to serve the guests and participants of the Universiade 2013 for a total amount of 2.5 billion rubles.

ОАО "Russian Railways" will purchase from ZAO "Transmashholding"(TMH) trains and rail buses to serve the guests and participants of the Universiade 2013 for a total amount of 2.5 billion rubles.

According to "Russian Railways", 6 six-car ED9E EMUs will arrive in railcar depot, and 5 DMUs will arrive in the depot Kanash, to serve in Tatarstan, Mari El ,Udmurtia and Chuvashia.

As it was previously reported, another 9.8 billion rubles were directed by  "Russian Railways" in the previous 2 years to prepare the infrastructure for the Universiade 2013. In 2013, the company plans to use 1.4 billion rubles for this purpose. These funds, in particular, will be spent on the project on organization of the passenger transportations in the local airport (railway line will link it to the station in the center of the city).


XXVII World Summer Universiade will be held in Kazan, 6-17 July 2013. It will be attended by 13.5 thousand athletes and members of official delegations from 170 countries, who will compete in 27 sports. It is expected about 100 thousand visitors and fans In Kazan from around the world, not less than 1.5 million members of the media, 15 thousand police officers and members of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Federal Security Service of Russia, Federal Migration Service. 20 thousand volunteers will involve at the Games.
